A beautiful and entrancing mini hoop dance is in store for you, filmed in the setting sun at a gorgeous waterfront park. LaRue Allegretto dances in the wind with his long fringed scarf then breaks into a fantastic display of hooping with a pair of mini hoops. His movements flow with the rhythm of the song as he manipulates small hoops on and off his body. The lovely soundtrack here is called “Gooey” by Glass Animals, and if you enjoyed it you can get a copy of it over on iTunes.
Lee Jeffries, otherwise known as Spaz, is here to teach us the infamous Crossers Weave, also known as the Hug Weave. This move is great to add to your twin hooping flow and Lee even provides us with a variety of starting points only using one hand. Then he breaks the move down into quadrants in order to really feel out the move. Nicely done! Lee is from Pensacola, Florida, USA.
Lee “Spaz” Jeffries spins up an awesome hoop dance video that starts off with some sweet pop n lock & barrell roll moves, before immediately transitioning into some killer flow. We rarely post anything shot in portrait, so you know this has got to be good. Don’t miss his isolation combinations too, followed by a chest roll! His high energy hooping really fits his song choice too which is from a compilation of fun Pokemon Trap remixes that he found. Lee lives in Pensacola, Florida, USA.
Hoop Instructor Billie Reinhart of Thrive Fairhope recently made an appearance on a “Get Fit” segment on the Studio 10 show on WALA FOX-TV Channel 10 in Mobile, Alabama, and Pensacola, Florida. A Licensed Massage Therapist and Registered Yoga Teacher as well, Reinhart certainly knows the human body, and she knows that hooping is a great low-impact cardiovascular workout which is why she enjoys sharing it so much. Billie brought some nice big hoops for the hosts to try and we applaud her for doing so. She explained, “A lot of people pick of the hoops at the grocery store and think they can’t do it anymore, but the bigger the hoop, the heavier the hoop, the easier it is to use, especially for adults.” She gives them a couple of quick stretch exercises prior to hooping and then gets them ready to spin it up before sharing one odd piece of information we’ve never heard before. Billie explains that in order to hoop you can move your body front to back or side to side, which is great advice, only she adds that “more advanced would be to go in a full circle.” We’re not sure where she got that from, but Billie is right on target regarding the core exercise benefits of hooping and gives a great demonstration on how to take the hoop from your waist up over your head before the segment concludes. She lives in Fairhope, Alabama, USA, and you can watch the Studio 10 segment featuring her below:
Welcome to Hooping Idol 3, Hooping.org’s award-winning contest that will be leading us all on an ever spinning journey in our quest to find the planet’s next big hooper star! Before we introduce our finalists for Season 3, we first want to send out the most heartfelt thank yous to everyone who submitted Hooping Idol 3 Casting Week auditions. You made our finalist decision making process the most difficult to date as you’re all so freakin talented and each and everyone of you are already Hooping Idols in our book so if you didn’t make the cut, please don’t let that be a reflection of your mad skills or how much we care because we love you all with all our heart. With more than 50 hoopers auditioning this year it pained us to have to narrow the list down to 20 and we have nothing but love for everyone who threw their hoop into the ring this year. We so wish we were able to bring everyone along for the ride.
For Casting Week we asked you to create an audition video introduction, to show us a little bit of the city or town in which you live, to tell us what you love about hooping and include a demonstration of your skills. We gave you posting instructions and reminded you of the importance of following our directions to the letter. Casting Week entries that met the basics were then evaluated further. We also examined the skill set of each of our applicants and awarded points to those who, regardless of how long they have been hooping, we believed would be able to hold their own. These things and many more were considered, ultimately bringing us here and a final consensus on our final 20 – plus one returnee from last year. So now, without any further ado, we proudly present your 2013 Hooping Idol Finalists for Season Three for 90s Dance Hits Week in alphabetical order. Keep in mind the page is video heavy and make take some time to load. Thanks!
