With all of the excitement about the new royal baby, we’re pretty excited about the new demo video from Princess Isabella Hoops of Isabella Hoops Entertainment. It totally rocks! She’s got hoop skills, charm, a little flirtatious energy and quirky humor, all of which come together to spin up something unforgettable. Isabella’s been hooping and dancing for many years and firmly believes that everyone can hula-hoop and her royal mission is to help people learn and to make sure everyone walks away with a smile on their face. She lives in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and the soundtrack for this is “Come & Get It” by Krewella and you can score a copy of it for your own on iTunes.
Sadie Spins of Well Rounded Hoops recently visited Osoyoos, British Columbia, Canada, the dryest and warmest spot in Canada that is also well known for it’s vineyards and what did she find greeting her when she arrived? On the cover of Osoyoos, the Official 2013 Visitors Guides to Canada’s Only Living Desert Community, were a couple of very happy hoopers! The photo, taken by Sadie, is of the guide with the city of Osoyoos behind it. Sadie lives in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Mo Bot was having such a great time hooping that she figured she’d share a little slice of her jam session, and we’re really glad that she did because we had such a great time watching her we figured we needed to share it with you as well. She brings so much to one single practice session and she lives in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and the soundtrack for this is “Mr. Walrus” by The Secret Whistle and you can get a copy of it for yourself on Bandcamp.
One of the truly wonderful gifts of the hoop is how it aids in the healing of the human spirit. Once the spinning starts the cares of the world often seem to melt away and we are happy in the hoop. This year was Tara Hoops, aka Tara Incognita’s, first Mother’s Day without her Mom and the hoop provided the needed solace and distraction. She tones down the colours and brings in some old time jazz and a little GoPro action to share as well. She lives in London, Ontario, Canada, and the soundtrack is “I Ain’t Got Nobody” by Sophie Tucker (on iTunes.
Kate Palbom is a Personal Trainer/Fitness Instructor and freelance writer, so when she decided to investigate the wonderful world of hooping for HUG: The Hip and Urban Girl’s Guide, we were especially curious what her reaction would be. Dropping in on a class taught by Mandy Harvey of Sugar Hoops she soon discovered that hooping was a great way to infuse her life “with a little joy, a lot of laughter and an ab workout… Whether you think of it as dance, fun or exercise one thing’s for sure, hooping will get you burning calories to the beat… My classmates, totally focused on their hoops are laughing, engaged and sweaty! After a series of exercises and drills Mandy leads us through some hoop assisted stretches and leaves us feeling relaxed and centered after our break from the pressures of grown-up life.” Kate and Mandy both live in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
We love this! It’s the brand new music video from Snowblink for their single “Inner Mini-Mississippi” from their latest release “Inner Classics”. Daniela Gesundheit and Dan Goldman, who hail from California and Canada, make beautiful music together and when you add the hoop stylings of sister hoopers Ivy Mairi and Martha Farquhar-McDonnell to this dreamy soundtrack, well, the end result is that you’ve created something pretty magical. The video was directed and edited by Neil Haverty and you can snag a copy of “Inner Mini-Missippi” for yourself – it’s available on iTunes. They’re based out of Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Every now and then you can stumble into a party that just captures you, putting a smile on your face and getting your body moving – whether you were in the mood to be celebrating or not. Angela’s birthday video is one of those kind of parties. Angela Argentina, aka Angela Nuhn, recently turned 29 years old and she’s not only pretty excited about it, she’s not going to stop the party. “Wow, it’s going to be one hell of a year! I’m looking forward to it.” Happy Birthday Angela! She lives in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. Soundtrack: “Don’t Stop The Party” by Pitbull and it’s available on iTunes. A Hooping.org Video of the Day.
Hoop dance instructor Elana Millman of Sugar Hoops recently stopped by the set of The Morning Show in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, to introduce Liza Fromer and viewers to hooping and the art of hoop dance. Millman promises that hooping is an activity that will “relax your mind, bring out your inner dancer and warm your soul” and we couldn’t agree more. Fromer, who hadn’t picked up a hoop in probably thirty years, asks if you can get a workout from hooping. Millman explains, “It is absolutely exercise in disguise! You are able to tone every single muscle group in a really efficient way and it’s so much fun you don’t even realize that you’re exercising.” Millman then gives everyone a lesson in the basics of hooping and before you know it Froman is spinning it up with a smile on her face. In fact, it looks like Millman has recruited another hooper when Fromer says, “Maybe this is my sport? Who knew hula hooping was my sport!” Elana confirms, “It is wildly addictive.” Watch the whole great segment here on The Morning Show.
