Danielle Lee’s Southern Utah Hoop Adventure

Hooping Adventure Danielle Lee of Hoop Elation and her hoop take us on a whirled-wind hooping tour of Southern Utah. She says, “In a hooping video that took 49 miles of hiking, 7 miles of river wading, 9,270 feet of elevation gain, rappelling down canyons, and a whole lot of granola bars, join Danielle as she visits 4 parks and 9 trails in Southern Utah.” Video filmed by Robin Lee. Flora with Nika Rose

nikarose Nika Rose, her website here, is the featured hooper in this stunning short film that left us all a little breathless. Made by James DeMary of Svvvge Bevuty Films, and filmed at Pewits Nest in Baraboo, Wisconsin, Nika spins her twin hoops and does some solo hooping as well and the result is simply beautiful. She lives in Madison, Wisconsin, USA, and the soundtrack is a “Fine Shrine (Huglife Remix)” by Purity Ring and you can get your free download on Soundcloud.

World Hoop Day 2014 (Part 1)

World Hoop Day brought hoopers together this weekend in cities and towns all around the world. Celebrated for the second time in it’s new timeslot, the first Saturday of October, hoopers all over this big blue marble were hooping it up in support of world peace and raising funds to help gift more hoops to needy kids around the globe. On six continents this year and in over 125 locations world wide, hoopers gathered together to spin up a wide variety of World Hoop Day celebrations. There were community hoop jams, performance showcases, daytime events, flash mobs, big crowds, rural solo celebrations, fire hoop extravaganzas and a whole lot more. So let’s take a closer look at some of the coolest stuff that happened for World Hoop Day this year.

AFRICA

Cape Town, South Africa: The World Hoop Day Performance Finale by Arise and Hoop featured a choreographed fire performance not to be missed. Circle of Love also gifted many hoops and puts smiles on the faces of many kids.

Johannesburg, South Africa: A celebration for World Hoop Day was held at the Emmarentia Dam.

ASIA

Kamakura, Japan: Hoopers gathered to spin up the World Hoop Day Dance with WHD Dance for 2014.

EUROPE

Manchester, England, UK: Hoopers gathered at All Saints Park for a World Hoop Day Dance for 2014.

Moscow, Russia: World Hoop Day was celebrated with the World Hoop Day Dance in Moscow as well.

Reykjavik, Iceland: Hoopers spun the World Hoop Day Dance inside what appears to be a local shopping mall.

Zagreb, Croatia: This fun World Hoop Day flash mob was part of the celebration this year in Zagreb.

NORTH AMERICA

Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada: A dynamic duo spins up the World Hoop Day Dance.

Chetumal, Mexico: A World Hoop Day event held at The Park Bandshell in Chetumal City included various arts, artists, workshops and performances.

Detroit, Michigan, USA: Grace Alexander was one of the inspiring performances at the WHD event held there year in Wayne.

Fort Collins, Colorado, USA: Anna Mandala shares footage from her local celebration, as well as some solo spin time of her and her friends.

Guadalajara, Mexico: Their big event at Parque Extremo included this amazing choreographed hoop number by Cuatro Diez (Four Tens).

Madison, Wisconsin, USA: One of the performances in Madison this year was this mini hoop piece by Breezi and Kenzi at the Madison Circus Space.

Mexico City, Mexico: Tebo Noseqe was one of the performers this year at the World Hoop Day celebration in Mexico City.

Nine Mile Falls, Washington, USA: Brooke Verwiel celebrated World Hoop Day solo hoop dancing on the Spokane River.

Quintana Roo, Mexico: The second World Hoop Day event held in Quintana Roo had many things going on.

San Diego, California, USA: The Circus Mafia kept right on spinning in 97 degree weather, including a workshop taught by Valentina “Unity” Martin, and many hoops were gifted to kids. Photo by Krystin Nicole Railing.

Washington, DC, USA: Lighting up the fire hoops after dark was part of the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia) gathering for World Hoop Day.

Iso Tosses/Hand Switches with Sydney Spins

Sydney Spins Sydney Spins, aka Sydney Malanaphy of Hooping Idol 3 earlier this year, is here with a brand new tutorial to teach us just how to do what she is calling “Iso Tosses” or “Hand Switches”. She makes it look super easy too before taking the time for us to break it down and share exactly how it’s done. Sydney says, “Hello Lovelies! Here is my first doubles/minis tutorial to date…getting mad hoop love lately and I want to put some back out there.” Thanks for sharing the love, Sydney! She lives in Madison, Wisconsin, USA.

Danielle Lee: Mad Circus Gala 2013

Danielle Lee Hoop Dance Danielle Lee of Hoop Elation recently spun up a winning performance at the Mad Circus Gala in the mad town that is Madison. Not only does she know how to throw down some sweet hoop dance moves and a finale, this one is worth watching even just for her mouth dropping opening move alone. Filmed by Erik Whitt and Kyle Teal, the Madison Circus Space hosted the event at the Barrymore Theater in Madison, Wisconsin, USA. The soundtrack is “Paddling Out” by Miike Snow and it’s available on iTunes.

Pick Up the World with Breezi

Breezy Breezi of Gnar Hoops is back with another of her semi-silent tutorials, this time teaching us how to “Pick up the World”; a trick that utilizes two hoops and a huge helping of one of our favorite movements – spinning! Beginning with a normal front-facing view to show us what the move looks like, she transitions into a hooper’s perspective with her video camera to give us an up close and personal viewpoint that will surely help you nail this move as well! Breezi lives in Madison, Wisconsin, USA, and the music used in her tutorial is “The Keeper” by Bonobo, which you can score on iTunes.

World Hoop Day brought hoopers together this weekend in cities and towns all over the world. Celebrated for the first time in it’s new timeslot on the first Saturday in October, 10/05/13 this year, hoopers all over this big blue marble were spinning things up in support of world peace and raising funds to help put hula hoops in the hands of needy kids around the globe. On six continents this year hoopers gathered together in celebration of World Hoop Day, so let’s take a closer look at some of the coolest stuff that’s already rolling in from the coolest holiday event there is!

ASIA

In Manila, hoopers in the Philippines gathered to celebrate World Hoop Day.

Hula Hoop Appetizers

In Tokyo, Japan, the big event for World Hoop Day was held this year in Yoyogi Park, but a smaller hoop-themed dinner that included these hooped up appetizers was also organized. We’re expecting a lot more of these to turn up in 2014.

AUSTRALIA

World Hoop Day Sydney

In Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, hoopers from the World Hoop Day Sydney Chapter gathered in Hyde Park.

EUROPE

In Austria, Hoop Dancers OÖ spun up the World Hoop Day Dance this year.

In Hamburg, Germany, a public hoop jam gathering celebrated the big day and caught the attention of those passing by.

Rehkjavic Hooping

In Reykavik, Iceland, hoopers gathered in Lækjartorg square to spin things up.

And in Paris, France, another large event was held that included a performance of the World Hoop Day Dance for this year.

NORTH AMERICA

In Boston, Massachusetts, USA, American hoopers spun up the World Hoop Day Dance and a whole lot more.

Jessica “Digitalis” Davis delivered an amazing performance at the big World Hoop Day event in Chicago, Illinois, USA.

Hoopers in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, spun up the fun again this year.

One of the places to be for World Hoop Day annually is Madison, Wisconsin, USA, and the festivities this year included some amazing performances.

In Mexico City, Distrito Federal, Mexico, Mane Almqvist and Zuriel Santiago performed together.

In New York, New York, USA, hoopers performed with their hoops all over the city, and they were so excited they even performed on the F Train.

Carla Samson and Scott Van Sice spun up just one of many amazing performances on the World Hoop Day Michigan stage this year, acro hooping together in Wayne, Michigan, USA.

SOUTH AMERICA

In South America, hoopers in São Paulo, Brazil, gathered for Dia Mundial do Bambolê
