Missing Display Names: Won’t Edit or Show Up (17 posts)

    My user name is wlendle but I would like my display name to be my real name, Wendy. I am selecting edit, making the change, hit save, but then the display name just stays as wlendle. Is there something wrong with my computer tonight? Can I do something else to change it?

    Had the same problem. Have you asked Philo if something is amiss? He may know more if no one has contacted him.

    I’ll look into it. We’re having some minor database issues going on right now that I’ve already called our tech guy about who should (knock wood) get to us this week.

    Yes thanks! mine was doing the same thing. I don’t want it to be my name but it defaulted to it when I tried to change it. Ill just wait till its fixed

    Our tech guy hasn’t responded in weeks so I’m going to have to find a new one. I did do a major system upgrade today that I was hoping would take care of this oddity, but it doesn’t appear to have done so. If you’re having any issues with your display name, can you please answer a few questions to help me poinpoint where the problem might be?

    1) How long have you had a hooping.org account (do help me see if it’s a recent issue or affecting long term accounts as well).
    2) Was it working for you personally before or has it always been this way for you?
    3) When you signed up did you create a Hooping.org account entirely through the Hooping.org system or did you sign in using Facebook? (maybe it’s a glitch in the Facebook plugin?)

    Thanks and sorry for the inconvenience. If you roll over the icon of the person a display name should pop up to let you know who they are – which isn’t a fix, just a helpful tip in the interim.

    The bad news is that our tech guy is working on the Olympics site and has zero time for us. But the good news is I figured out how to fix this issue finally on an individual account basis. I fixed Wendy up at the top of this thread and you can see that she’s Wendy now so it’s working. YAY!

    I have no idea why a bunch of people’s display names just went missing. I wish I knew how it happened, but I don’t and I’m sorry some of you have been nameless and that this has taken so long to figure out. Thanks everybody for your patience. And if you would like to have your display name show up again just post here what you want your display name to be and I’ll go into the backend and get it posted.

    sorry to bear bad news :( but its still being funny and keeps defaulting to my full name. I tried like 16 times and I signed up through the site so the facebook glitch doesn’t apply…I have no facebook anyway. I’m in no hurry just thought Id let ya know. Id just rather not have my whole name on there I wanted it “hoopasaurus” (i have dino tattoos) but it just defaults back. and i signed up for the site maybe 4 months ago ish? just and FYI. hope it works itself out.

    Hi Philo. Thanks for directing me to this forum. I’m still having the issue. I signed up probably a year and a half ago through Hooping.org. I first tried to change my display name a couple months ago and several times since like the others on here, but it always defaults to the username I signed up with.

    I would like my display name to be “Nicolina”. Can you please make this change on the back end?

    (I’m sorry for the tech hassles – I work in online communications so I know how frustrating it is when technical issues are out of your control).

    A while back I was having weird problems – tho not the name game, and it seemed to have a lot to do with the “cookie blocker” being active. Whenever I turn that off, my problems seem to go away. They were display and posting glitches.
