Hooping in silence — this could also be tied to hooping blindfolded (which for some reason I have yet to do). There is just something about having one of your senses temporarily closed off that makes you focus so much more on the feeling of you, the hoop(s) and exuding whatever is on your mind, your soul, your heart. I’ve taken a few play sessions with my hoops to no sound but the hum of electronics & appliances in the apartment, just playing around or dancing to whatever little song is in my head.

Oh, going back to your article on hooping personas, what about portraying a character or feeling (other than sexy or childish) while hoop dancing? Like choosing a particular person/character/emotion to portray and just be THAT with your movements and music….I already know who I want to do!

    Hi Lara
I really enjoy the articles on hooposophy – thank you!
    Here’s a couple of ideas:

‘secrets of a good hoop pupil’ – this could be practical (how to relate to your class or teacher) and/or philosophical in terms of how you approach learning.

‘hoop play’ – the other day my friend and I tried hooping while tossing a ball around – what other types of hoop play are there that encourage you to change your focus?
