    Summary:
Our feet are two of the most essential and (literally) sensitive parts of our bodies. Until recently, I never thought of footwear as such an intimate and personal decision for our health and experience in the world.

I’m like Lara. I’m not a fan of shoes in general, and I prefer to be barefoot whenever I can. So I do most of my hooping barefoot, and I enjoy it very much.

i have serious issues with my feet and ankles – and I love to be barefoot however – when I am hooping – I have learned that I really do strengthen my feet and ankles when I have proper shoes on – so I do know it’s much better to hoop in shoes personally… but most of the time as I am in the house hooping I have a tendency to be barefoot…

when I am outside on hard surface – I definitely have shoes on – or when I am at Hoopnotica in the studio… (which has concrete flooring)

I think for me it depends. If I am in sand, 100% barefoot. If I am in grass, it’s 50/50 on if I see a lot of bees or not, because I don’t want to be stung. If I’m on concrete, I like wearing THIN soled shoes that are very flexible. I’ve thought about wearing my split sole taps, but, I don’t think it’s proper for concrete. :)
I’ve also worn just socks on concrete on super hot days, and well, I learned after a day of hooping that it will erode large holes in a brand new pair.
Sometimes in summer it’s nice to wet down the concrete and dance and splash in the puddles.:)
If I’m hooping on my ankles standing up, I prefer shoes, but laying down, i prefer barefoot.
    So either way I’m happy.
And I just realized how cool it would be to flood the patio with sand. hmm… :)
