So what are some nifty things you’ve done to your hoops? For instance I saw this video of a hoop that was wrapped in a feather boa. And I have this idea of tying streamers to a hoop so when you twirl it looks all pretty. And tonight I’m gonna wrap one in some ribbon (I hope it goes well cause this ribbon is really pretty). Share some ideas!

I’ve also thought of tying little scarves to a hoop, kind of like a “hoop skirt”. I was thinking about those scarves people juggle with? I don’t know what they’re called.

If it worked it’d look sooooo friggin’ sweet I bet!

I can’t see why it wouldn’t work, the scarves I’m thinking of are extremely light.

You can definitely decorate your hoops with all kinds of stuff! I remember someone on tribe had a very pretty hoop with ribbons or scarves all the way around the circumference.

Michelle put tinsel on her hoop! I’ll post a picture in the group documents so you can check it out.

A friend of mine on Tribe made a great leather covered hoop which she then attached leather strips and beaded feathers to, so that it looked like a traditional native American hoop. It looked lovely. She used it for slow groove hooping and of course the leather would be very grippy.

Personally having anything dangling off my hoops would drive me nuts!

Oh, and I’ve seen someone on YouTube hooping with hoops covered in fake fur fabric. They look huge, but are probably light and grippy.

Fake fur is usually heavier than it looks, so just something to be aware of.

You can also sew an entire fabric tube to cover your hoop. It adds weight and pizazz! It also keeps your floor and walls from getting marked up.

I covered a hoop in old jeans . I also did one with feathers , it was gorgeous but , didn’t spin, it just fell to the ground.

I mostly decorate my hoops with fabric or ribbon and some tape. I have seen all sorts of great looking hoops. I once saw a cool lime green and yellow fur hoop on etsy. However, anytime I have ever tried to hooping with a hoop that had something (even a super light something) hanging off of it, I noticed it had a huge amount of wind resistance and made it really difficult to keep going. Has anyone else found they had the same thing happen? Just curious.

    Hi (-:
I have a few different types of hoops including feather, ribbons and fur. I also have studded hoops, double hoops – not double as in for 2 people to use, double as in 2 hoops in one and 2-3 different types of these… Hoops that crystals and things can be attatched to and removed again and replaced with something else… Hoops with crystals and nick nacks inside which you can see. Platted hoops, material covered hoops, a big fat hoop made out of pool noodles, umm possibly more, I come up with ideas all the time. Ive just made a new hoop which looks a bit like a flower – which wasnt at all anything like the idea I had when I started lol. They all work well!
The secret to making ribbon, feather & fur hoops work is to weight the hoop to combat the wind resistance (-:

I turned my aluminum hoop into a giant heart shape by adding extra bits of piping. I loves it and the fact its my creation. Im desperately trying to find someone that works with aluminum to swap the heart bits for aluminum tubing so its all strong and shiny

I tried the skirt, strips of fabric thing and the hoop wouldn’t spin, it made it feel so light even though it was a thick hoop that I couldn’t do a think with it. The air under the fabric works against it and it won’t stay up.

    I’ve knit a cover for a hoop.

My friend just knitted me a cover for a hoop – its fantastic!! So nice to hoop with on a cold day too!
The aluminium heart shape sounds fab too!! How does it spin?
I have tried the heart shaped hoop with regular tubing, but couldnt securely attach the bottom part of the heart, so it remains unfinished & untried until I find the magic connector…
Wind resistance is a bitch when adding things to a hoop!
