These Hooping Kids Are All Right

Welcome to another special edition of The Quickies featuring the most adorable kids ever! YAY!

• We kick things off with someone’s little princess who is practicing for her school talent show. If only I had gotten the whole multi-tasking thing down when I was five-years-old: Hula-Hoop & Chicken Dance & Blowing Bubbles

• Now let’s pay a visit to West Buncombe Elementary School. Located outside Asheville, North Carolina, it’s worth a visit. After all, not every elementary school has it’s own hula hoop team: West Buncombe Elementary School Hula Hoop Team

Water for Elephants, Fire and Kitterina

It’s time for another edition of the Quickies, short looks at things you simply shouldn’t miss.

• First up, it’s flame on at Firedrums 2011 when these women not only fire hoop, but their performance costumes feature real live flames as well. They are Sarah-Star Stolar, Bene Rather-Taylor and Jennifer Alvarado: Three 5-Flame Hoop Dancers

• In line with our new International Federation for Hoop Justice series, even though we were most certainly rooting for the real hoopers, this Hula Hoop snack video contest entry has had Hooping.org in a spin throughout. “If anyone can do it then the Hooperman can. I’m like an uber super dooper hula hoop of man. I’m gonna satisfy your appetite like no one else can.” Hooperman

• And now something you’ve all been waiting for, it’s one minute of hooping with Brecken Rivara! Shot during a break at her workshop at the beautiful Rime Buddhist Monastery in Kansas City, Missouri, and oh – what a minute it is! Brecken Rivara

• Heather Toles of San Rafael, California, was very pregnant. In fact, her water had actually broken. So in order to induce labor at the hospital, she got herself hooping again after almost 4 months of nothing but bedrest. Congrats on your new baby girl Heather! Hoopnobirthing

• Want to increase the degree of difficulty factor during your hoop practice, and thus earn even higher points from the international panel of mythological judges? Then perhaps you should consider adding a coconut. Hooping Coconut Goddess

• And then finally, when rugby players hula hoop. In the UK, the England Sevens took part in a beach party themed event and got their hips swinging for the hoola challenge. Next time though, give these guys some man-sized hoops. England Sevens Hoola Hoop Challenge

Hula Hooping Donkeys, Ghosts and Fiddlers
