Spark! Circus visits thousands of migrant and refugee children along the Burmese/Thailand border, bringing joy and teaching circus workshops for underprivileged kids and orphans. Here we find Ariel Amara of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, Lukas Knab of Parksville, British Columbia Canada, Jo Mondy of Brighton, England, UK, Jewelz Hanssens of Sydney, Australia, April Mietz, Jerina Hintikka of Helsinki, Finland, and Garret Flowers of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. They’re performing at night at the Nu Po Refugee Camp which has held as many as 14,000 refugees in recent years and is located just five miles away from the Burma border under the watchful eye of the Burmese military junta. If Jim Hendrickson made hooping videos he’d easily be a hooping household name by now, but he doesn’t. On our list of greatest hoopers most people have never heard of for awhile now, we’re delighted that Choi Tse managed to capture him on camera. It’s a rare treat and here he is tearing it up – with a fire hoop no less – on Khao San Road in Bangkok, Thailand. He lives in San Rafael, California, USA.
