Japan Junior College Starts Hoop Dancing
For the first time in Japan, an educational institution has introduced hoopdance into their curriculum. Ayumi Mitake of HoopTokyo recently received an invitation from Higashi Kyushu Junior College. She was invited to come to the school to teach students enrolled in their infantile education program how to hoop dance. Every year the school holds an annual Child Festival, which is presented for many children, where students from the program present what they have studied. With one week of intensive education, Mitake was able to teach her class not only how to hoop, but several tricks, instruct them on performance skills, as well as choreograph a full routine with all students involved. The students had two weeks to review their lessons by themselves before bringing their performance to the annual Child Festival. How did they do? Way to go, Ayumi and the school dancers. Strong group choreography and especially cool lighting effects.
