Hoop Lady Event Moved To November 8
The "Support the Hula Hoop Lady Hoop Jam" originally scheduled for Saturday, November 1st, has been delayed a week. Why? Caroleeena told Hooping.org, "The best thing to do for Pamela Brown was to honor the wishes of her attorney and caseworker and not jeopardize her court case by moving our hoop jam to Saturday, November 8th." For those just tuning in, Brown, aka The Hula Hoop Lady of Granby Street, is a Traumatic Brain Injury survivor who was arrested and released three days later and an action was planned to bring together hoopers from all over the region in her support. Caroleeena added, "Her caseworker Marilyn told me that since the arrest Pamela has become somewhat reclusive and fearful, refusing to leave the house even to hoop. Marilyn did tell Pamela though that the hoopers are coming to hoop with her and she was thrilled, she was very excited." The Hoop Lady Lovefest is happening on Saturday, November 8th, at 2pm, on the Granby Street and Cromwell Parkway median where she regularly hoops daily, the site of her arrest. Event organizers are also requesting that donations be made to the Brain Injury Association of America, headquartered in Virginia, in Pamela Brown's honor.

This woman has never caused anyone any harm at all whatsoever. My husband passes this woman everyday on his way to work. She brings a smile to passer byers faces. Whoever called the police on her in the first place really should get a life. And the officer involved should be fired. It is obvious this woman is disabled. It is sickening. I hope she sues and wins and keeps on hoola hooping in the same place everyday!

The police arrived because of a noise complaint while hooping with a radio and charged her with felony assault, not sure why, and the video only makes this more upsetting. See this update.
