Support The Hula Hoop Lady November 1st
On Saturday, November 1st, hoopers are gathering on the Granby Street median in Norfolk, Virginia, at 2pm to hoop it up and show their support for The Hula Hoop Lady of Granby Street. Holly, who shares our earlier concerns following the incident, writes, "The Hula Hoop Lady is sort of an icon in Norfolk. Standing in the grassy median of Granby Street near Ward’s Corner... she would play her radio and hula hoop every morning and every afternoon, rain or shine, cold or hot. ... Mentally handicapped because of a car accident shortly before her graduation from High School... It’s a sad, sad day when the people we are trying to teach our children to help, to protect, to look out for, are tasered [three times] and thrown in jail by the very people who have actually sworn to serve and protect the public. And although I know it was a three day weekend, I’m really curious, and would love to know how many people dropped the ball, that this woman was in jail from Saturday until Tuesday, instead of in a safe place, in case of seizures, etc." Read her full post: Are You In The Beyond? Meanwhile, Pamela Brown returns to court on November 3rd. Hooping.org believes The Hoop Lady will soon find out there is a whole hooping community behind her.
UPDATE: Event moved to November 8th!!!

I hope this article and her experience becomes the catalyst to a change in the police force in this country. It is my deepest desire that police work becomes more humanitarian in nature and goes back to its initial intention to serve and protect the people. Not to harass and collect money.

I knew Pam Brown in high school. She was at the top of her class when her tragedy occured. She is a warm gentle kind person. I saw the video of what happened to her and I am totally repulsed at the fact she was treated the way she was. Pam didn't deserve that. This Officer needs to lose his job. He doesn't have compassion for a person who can't defend herself. There was no need for the tazer.

Jesus. You would think they would just leave this poor lady alone. She has a brain injury! That could happen to anyone- those officers harassing her need to be fired asap.
