The Hula Hoop Lady of Granby Street, as she has been nicknamed by residents in Norfolk, Virginia, - and previously reported on Hooping.org, is being held in jail following charges of making excessive noise and assault, police said. Police responded to a noise complaint on Saturday and “it escalated from there.” The Hoop Lady, aka Pamela Brown, has been hooping in the grassy median near Wards Corner regularly for quite some time. Brown's car was hit by a tractor-trailer in the late 1970s and she spent several weeks in a coma. The crash left her with permanent brain damage and she had to relearn walking and speaking.
