This week's hoop track is from the new release by Thievery Corporation and it's called "Mandala" from the new album "Radio Retaliation." Merriam-Webster defines "Mandala" as "a Hindu or Buddhist graphic symbol of the universe ; specifically : a circle enclosing a square with a deity on each side that is used chiefly as an aid to meditation." Featuring the stylings of Anoushka Shankar, I can't help but think they wrote this specifically for us to hoop to. Your Burning Man Hoop Calendar 2008

burning man hooper It's not much of a stretch to say that Burning Man may well be the most hoopening place on the planet, and this years event promises to be no exception. There's a whole week of activities from hooping and hoop making classes to performances and hoop jams and more. While Hooping.org will not be traveling to Black Rock City for the first time in our five year history, we know you'll be taking pictures and sharing your hoop experiences for those who won't be in attendance. So what's happening at Burning Man 2008 for hoopers? Check out our annual hoop events calendar below:

Monday - Friday:

12:00pm-1:00pm: Flow Temple Flowshop - Hone your own Flow! Daily Flow Arts lessons for sticks, staff, hoop, meteors, plus yoga and more. Bring your own tools. Hosted by Prometheatrics.

Monday:

4:00pm-7:00pm: Hoop Soup Detail - Join RamonaMayhem as they hoopdance up hunger for “stone soup”—potluck feast. Bring something to share, potlucky style for dinner @ 6pm. Hosted by Camp Mystic.

Tuesday:

5:00pm-6:00pm: Hoop Jam @ iUniverse. All levels of experience are welcome. Fire hoopers welcome too. Hosted by iUniverse.

Wednesday:

12:00pm-1:00pm: Safire Hoop Class - Join Fire Sandra at Center Camp for a hoop class up close and personal.

12:00pm-1:00pm: HoopCandy - a multi-level class to discover your sexy sensual self through hooping. Hosted by Zanzibar.

4:20pm - 7:20pm: BusCamp HoopJam - "Bring yo hoops & trixsy moves! We'll have some tunes & a bunch o xtra hoops, let's just enjoy the cradle of love that's in da hoop!" Host: VW Bus Camp.

7:00pm - 9:00pm: Hoop Making and Hoop Playing, hosted by Hoop Nation. Learn basic hoop moves coupled with hoop dance techniques. Hoop making supplies will be available.

9:00pm-9:45pm: International Hoop Down Detail is "the biggest hoop down on the playa!" Go see hoop stylz from across the globe and show off "how u hoop in yr neck o da woods. Represent your LOCAL tribe." Hosted by GrooveHoops. Location: Kostume Kult.

Thursday:

1:00pm-3:00pm: Hoop Making Workshop hosted by Heart Camp at Hummer and 3:50ish.

4:00pm-8:00pm: Asylum Initiation Party Detail includes DJs, hooping and more hosted by the First Republic of Slacking.

5:00pm- 6:00pm: In-spiral-ity Hoop PlayshoP is being hosted by RhythmWave Ecstatic Dance Camp. This playshop focuses on learning basic moves and elevating moves to use them.

6:00pm-8:00pm: PEX Hoop Jam. Hoop non stop to some delicious and infectious beats at sundown. Hosted by The Philadelphia Experiment (PEX) at Fifth Dimension Village.

7:00pm-9:00pm: Drum Circle and Dance Party. Drummers galore, hooping, fire hooping and more. Hosted by iUniverse.

Friday:

7:00pm - 9:00pm: Hoop Making and Hoop Playing, hosted by Hoop Nation. Learn basic hoop moves coupled with hoop dance techniques. Hoop making supplies will be available.
