video of the day

This weekend I was privileged enough to meet Deanne of HoopLovers.com at Hoop Camp 2008. Here she is with the other Tokyo Hoop Stars enticing everyone in Japan to join the love revolution.

trick of the week

This week's hoop trick is a foot interception that comes to us from Crissy Gugler of Santa Clara, California. She notes, "Corby calls this the 'Beckham Catch', which I think sounds pretty nifty."

track of the week

thievery corporation: mandala

This week's hoop track is from the new release by Thievery Corporation and it's called "Mandala" from the new album "Radio Retaliation." Merriam-Webster defines "Mandala" as "a Hindu or Buddhist graphic symbol of the universe ; specifically : a circle enclosing a square with a deity on each side that is used chiefly as an aid to meditation." Featuring the stylings of Anoushka Shankar, I can't help but think they wrote this specifically for us to hoop to. Check it out in our Hoop Sounds listening station up top, and listen to and download the other tracks from the new album on iTunes by clicking:

David Archuleta: Crush

david archuleta: crush

This week's hoop track is by American Idol favorite David Archuleta. It's called "Crush." Tina wrote in to let us know that she loves hooping to it and we love David here at Hooping.org - so we had to make this debut single from his upcoming debut album our track of the week! Check it out! We've added it to our listening station up top and you can download yours on iTunes by clicking:

Comments

I love this song, hopefully it will debut in top10 of the hot100 billboard countdown

David has delivered an amazing first single to his fans, and the public. It is rhythmic, David's superior vocals soar and are identifiable throughout, has a catchy beat.. Hey-> I watched lotsa American Bandstand back in the day :)

His older fans like me find themselves humming along unconsciously, and the verses transport the listener back to those bygone days of school girl and schoolboy CRUSHES... It has an appeal across a very broad spectrum of listeners, and should effectively silence the detractors and critics who didn't believe he had mainstream appeal. CRUSH is the catapult for David to continue his growth and evolution as an artist - I ANTICIPATE MANY MANY YEARS OF OUTSTANDING MUSIC FROM HIM. TAKE A BOW DAVID... YOU'VE ARRIVED.

david is a great singer
and this song rocks
he is my favorite young
singer. i wish him the best
and hope he makes tons of money. his hard work has paid off and i'm exciting
to be hearing his music

I love Crush! The chorus is so catchy and David's smooth voice is just candy to the ears. LOVE IT!

The first time I heard this song and the several times thereafter I have felt the same way. It starts out really weak but as David gets into the music you can hear his strength begin to come out. Unfortunately ending with all that aeaeaeaeaeaeae crap really destroys the song.

I think this song needs some serious work. Putting out a pop song so quickly after idol was definately the intention in hopes of securing his following. However, this was done at the expense of all our ears. Had he spent a little more time listening and editing, he could have really blown it out of the water. Alas, sounds like we have another Rubin on our ears.
