video of the day

The new music video for Frankmusik's latest single "In Step" is pure hooping.

trick of the week

It's time to learn the "Booty Bump" - or revisit it this week if you haven't done it in awhile.

track of the week

Armin van Buuren: Imagine

This week's hoop track is from Armin van Buuren's newly release "Imagine" - in fact it's the title track itself and Sonja says she just can't stop hooping to it. We've added the song to our Hoop Sounds listening station up top. You can also check it out as well as the rest of "Imagine" - and download it for yourself on iTunes by clicking:

Hoop Path Faced With Cult Accusations

hoop path cult flier Jesse James Deconto writes, "Carrboro's hoopers may seduce with their spirited Sunday ritual. But don't call them a cult. Hoopers of all ages dance on sunny Sundays outside Weaver Street Market where live musicians play. ... This past weekend, Carrboro police say someone posted about 20 fliers around the market. The fliers feature a devil figure modeled on local hooping teacher Jon Baxter but with horns and a pointed tail. He's holding a hula hoop with a pentagram inside. "Hoop Path: A Path to the Darkside," the poster read. "It's a cult." Full story: News Observer. Interesting Tribe.net discussion

That's strangely hilarious. I want the t-shirt.

SERIOUSLY?! :-)

Some people just don't get it, I guess. Maybe they haven't hooped before.

I just want everyone to rest assured that the culprits, two twentysomething bartenders who apparently have made a sport of scoffing at local hoopers for some time, have been identified and they have actually corresponded with a few of us (publicly and privately) and assured us that they intended this purely as a joke. We think they need to take a few (or perhaps a few hundred) comedy writing seminars before they learn how to set up a comprehensible--let alone funny--joke, but in the meantime I have gotten the vivid impression that this whole situation has been a significant life lesson for them and will be cause for them to more deeply consider the consequences of their actions in the future.

We are incredibly appreciative of the outpouring of support we have received from our local community as well as the national hooping community--thank you guys! We love you and we hope you will come down and visit us sometime!

very amusing.
what's the difference between that and all the moms taking their little girls to dance class or tae kwon do?

at least we hoop for our own fun and adventure and don't live vicariously through our children. haha!
