The Nashville Hooping Marathon
Imagine walking 13.1 miles. Now imagine covering that distance while hooping. A band of hoopers led by instructor Sunny Becks make their first appearance in the Nashville Marathon as Team Hooprama. "I hate running," Becks says. "We'll be having the most fun. We'll be giggling and laughing the whole way." And they'll be raising breast cancer awareness. Becks' charity, called Hooping for Hope, will offer free hooping classes for women who have or have had breast cancer. "It's very centering," said Ciona Rouse, adding, "Maybe it's because our bodies are centered in the hoop. I hope it's a way for breast cancer survivors to reclaim their bodies." Go Girls! A friend of mine in Nashville had sent me a picture of them running via cellphone but with no explanation! Happy to see Nashville hoopers for such a tremendous cause!
