video of the day

This weekend I was privileged enough to meet Deanne of HoopLovers.com at Hoop Camp 2008. Here she is with the other Tokyo Hoop Stars enticing everyone in Japan to join the love revolution.

trick of the week

This week's hoop trick is a foot interception that comes to us from Crissy Gugler of Santa Clara, California. She notes, "Corby calls this the 'Beckham Catch', which I think sounds pretty nifty."

track of the week

thievery corporation: mandala

This week's hoop track is from the new release by Thievery Corporation and it's called "Mandala" from the new album "Radio Retaliation." Merriam-Webster defines "Mandala" as "a Hindu or Buddhist graphic symbol of the universe ; specifically : a circle enclosing a square with a deity on each side that is used chiefly as an aid to meditation." Featuring the stylings of Anoushka Shankar, I can't help but think they wrote this specifically for us to hoop to. Check it out in our Hoop Sounds listening station up top, and listen to and download the other tracks from the new album on iTunes by clicking:

Burning Man Photos

I've just uploaded a grip of Burning Man photos into the photo gallery. Check them out here. Because of the nature of some of these images, you must be a registered hooping.org gallery user to view this album. If you're not registered, it's easy to to do. Then, be sure to login, and enjoy the gallery!

If you were at Burning Man and have hooping photos, PLEASE upload them into the gallery! I'd love to have more photos of the hooper handfasting, and I'm quite sure that many of you attended hoop gatherings that I missed. It's easy to upload photos — just make sure they're smaller than 100kb.

Hi.. The site says no image to display!! Is it me or are they not up??

Have you registered as a gallery user? As I said in the post, the Burning Man gallery is not visible to non-registered gallery viewers. Register here. Then you should be able to view the photos. If not, then let me know.

working now!!!!!! NOw I've gotta check 'em out!

Great shots. It looks like fun! I love the first shot with the bike. She's got it going on!

I want to hear more about this hoop wedding. What was that all about?

That first shot w/ the hoop in tow isn't a she...that's a He. That is a picture of Stevie Turner with his Porta Party

The hooper wedding was a ceremony where a group of us got "handfasted" to our hoops and the hoop community. Stefan will have some video of it at some point. :)

HE'S got it going on then! It's hard to see with the umbrella!

these photos are so awesome; i can't WAIT to get out on the playa with my hoops next year!!!

i'd like to check out the photos

Scott, like I said in the post, all you need to do is register for a gallery account and login.
