erran baron cohen: hanukkah oh hanukkahverve remixed

We've got two tracks for you this week. The first comes from Erran Baron Cohen (of Zohar) from his collection "Songs IN The Key of Hanukkah." Our track is "Hanukkah Oh Hanukkah" which features Y-Love and Jules Brookes. And yes, it'll get you hooping for Hanukkah! You can check it out on the listening station up top - and listen and download more on iTunes by clicking:

Our second track is from the Verve Remixed Christmas project that takes classic Verve label holiday jazz tracks and remixes them for the sound of today. It's great stuff and it has us hooping in a "Winter Wonderland" (The Christian Prommer Remix) - which features legendary vocalist Shirley Horn. Give it a listen up top - and you can also listen and download more holiday delights from Verve Remixed Christmas on iTunes by clicking:

Burning Man Hoop Camp

It was suggested at a party last night that we start a Burning Man Hula Hoop Camp. I probably won't be going to Burning Man, and it's probably too late to organize this for this year anyway, but this might be something to think about for next year. Can you imagine? A full camp dedicated to hooping! There will be hoops everywhere. The Playa will be crawling with hoops! We could even have hoop-making hours. People could bring tape, wire, cloth and other pretty materials and decorate away! I think this is definitely an idea worth considering. Thanks for bringing it up, Jill!

Update: check the forums for more information!

Usually lots of hooping going on at Omars Otter Oasis on the last Sunday night, I will be there probably hooping naked or in a sarang. I would love to see a whole camp of hoopers, I think a lot of people already have their own thing going on, but a hooping camp would get tons of visits!

There will be a hula camp already: House of the Holy Hoop. We'll be at 5:10 and esplanade; part of Sanctuary. Come on by any time! We'll be the ones with the teepee.

I'm so glad to hear of the house of the holy hoop! Any chance the camp will have extra supplies for making hoops or extra hoops to borrow? (I'd be glad to barter something for it.) I'm coming from the east coast and I'm not sure if I'll be able to travel with a hoop.

burning man next year: i'm there!

The Good Vibe Hoop Tribe will be at Burning Man with bells on. Unfortunately, it is too late for us to register as a camp, but we will be all over the playa. And if everything works out, we'll even have a mobile hooping stage as part of an 'art car'. You can also find some major fire hoop action at The Gate's Village, two streets back from center camp.

ditto joy's question--i've been having problems finding 1" poly-tubing and would love it if any camp or group was bringing materials for a hoop creation station.

Hi my name is Olivia - I'm eight and a half years old - I really love hula-hooping! is there such a thing as a hula-hoop camp? I live in New York state near west point (in Garrison 10524) Thanks !

If you're thinking like a summer camp for hooping, there isn't one that I know of Olivia - Editor.

2008 will be my virgin year--nursing school will not allow me a week off :( i like the thought of a hoop camp, especially since i'll be looking for a camp to participate in and know no one personally who has gone to BM...it sounds, though, like folks already have their own stuff happening. i just wanted to chime in in support of hoop camp fun!
