track of the week

erran baron cohen: hanukkah oh hanukkahverve remixed

We've got two tracks for you this week. The first comes from Erran Baron Cohen (of Zohar) from his collection "Songs IN The Key of Hanukkah." Our track is "Hanukkah Oh Hanukkah" which features Y-Love and Jules Brookes. And yes, it'll get you hooping for Hanukkah! You can check it out on the listening station up top - and listen and download more on iTunes by clicking:

Erran Baron Cohen - Erran Baron Cohen Presents: Songs In the Key of Hanukkah - Hanukkah Oh Hanukkah (feat. Y-Love & Jules Brookes)

Our second track is from the Verve Remixed Christmas project that takes classic Verve label holiday jazz tracks and remixes them for the sound of today. It's great stuff and it has us hooping in a "Winter Wonderland" (The Christian Prommer Remix) - which features legendary vocalist Shirley Horn. Give it a listen up top - and you can also listen and download more holiday delights from Verve Remixed Christmas on iTunes by clicking:

Video Roundup

Seeing what other hoopers are doing is a great way to learn and expand your hooping knowledge base. Here are a few videos from around the web that let you take a peek into the lives of your fellow revolutionaries:

The Halloween Hooper (Windows Media Player)
Funny horror spoof produced for String Cheese's "Hulaween" show last year. Not many tricks, but funny.

Centrifugal Force Demo Reel (Windows Media Player)
A quick peek at what the NYC hoopers are up to! Amazing tricks.

Mystery Moon Hoop Class (Windows Media Player)
AWESOME TRICKS! Makes me really want to take a class with these cats.

Gathering of the Tribes hoop workshop (340 KB .mpg)
A 15 second clip of some of us hooping at the hoop workshop at GoTT. For photos, check the photo gallery.

• There are also some of my personal hooping videos online...this one (615KB .exe file) from last August, this one (1.3MB .avi file) from last November, this good one from June (40MB .mov file), and then this not so good one from June (40MB .mov file). Nothing better than making an ass of yourself for all the web to see!

If you know of hooping videos online, post a comment! In addition, if you have a webcam and want to make a hooping video but need somewhere to host it, let me know. I have room for it.

Comments

The Mystery video was for their "Hoop It Up" hooping class. It's about 2 minutes long. I got it working by copying the link and loading it directly in Windows Media Player. It looked pretty cool, especially the hoops with glowing bits when they turned the lights out!

Ooh, great tip, Jason!

What a cool video! I especially like the trick at about 0:47...the low hoop horizontal step-through. VERY cool.

And Philo and I tried attaching glow necklaces lenthwise along our hoops at the Moontribe 10 year...it looked neat, but made me sea sick if I looked down at my hoop going around me.
