Hoopie Awards 2017: Rock The Vote!

Hoopie Awards 2017: Rock The Vote! Hoopie Awards 2017: Rock The Vote!

It’s Hooping.org’s 10th annual Hoopie Awards celebration honoring greatness in our hooping community. This year submissions for award consideration were being accepted from Monday, January 9th, 2017, through Friday, January 13th, 2017. We compiled a list of all of your submissions, pre-screened them for greater content manageability, then sent the remainder to all 50 of our randomly selected 2017 Hoopie Awards Panelists. All 50 panelists were literally drawn out of a hat from those who made themselves available to be of service to the community during award submissions. Each panelist was then instructed to forget their personal affiliations, communities and countries and cast votes for their top five choices in each of our award categories. Their ballots were then painstakingly compiled and we can now proudly present your Hoopie Award 2017 nominees.

Previous Hoopie Award winners were once again not eligible for nomination in an award category they’ve previously won. And because we have nominees again this year on our staff, final electronic vote tallies will once again be validated by World Hoop Day organizer Hoopin’ Annie. World Hoop Day events were celebrated on six continents this year, raising funds to gift hoops to needy kids around the globe. We honor the mission of World Hoop Day and sincerely thank them for their invaluable Hoopies assistance again this year.

Hoopie Awards 2017 Changes

Changes for the 2017 Hoopie Awards are as follows: We added one new awards category for Mini Hooper of the Year and nominees for this award may be submitted as you see fit. We’ve also changed a few ongoing awards requirements. Last year we added two new Hooping Performance Video awards that required all video submissions be completely uncut and unedited. After so many wonderful performances were disqualified for even the most minimal video editing, we realized we were too strict and removed this stipulation. Performances may be for a live audience or an online audience. Also, our Hooper Hall of Fame Award honoring long term contributions to the world of hooping was expanded from eight years to ten years of hooping experience this year in honor of our 10th annual Hoopie Awards celebration. It will not be expanded any further in the future.

And the 2017 Hoopie Award Nominees are…

First, as in previous years, we present a simple list of all award categories and our nominees for 2017. All of our nominated photos, tutorials and videos this year include links that will open in new windows so you will not lose your place on the Hoopie Awards 2017 page. Please make use of these included links as they’re here to assist you in making educated voting decisions in our visual content award categories.

Secondly, you will find the official voting ballot with all nominees and check boxes for you to cast your vote. You may vote for one and only one selection in each of our award category. To encourage thoughtful voting selections, voting will remain open through the weekend until 11:59 pm PST on Sunday, Feburary 5th, 2017.

SORRY: VOTING HAS CLOSED FOR HOOPIE AWARDS 2017

We would like to thank all of our Hoopie Awards 2017 panelists for their dedicated service in reviewing award submissions and making these tough decisions. It’s a seriously major undertaking and one keeps the Hoopies a true hooping community driven awards process. Thank you all so very much, and thank you all for voting. Comments are welcome below, though campaigning – even on behalf of one’s loved ones, is strongly discouraged. Good luck to you all and remember – if you’re a hooper, you’re already a winner. Happy hooping everybody!
