Hulahoop: Billy Kenny & Maximono’s New Music Video
by Philo Hagen
Billy Kenny & Maximono’s “One Night Stand” EP just dropped and a few weeks ago, in preparation for it, a hooped up video competition arrived for one of their new tracks too. The dastardly trio colluded to bring us This Ain’t Bristol’s most anticipated release to date with a new single entitled “Hulahoop”. The lead single found them taking their message and mission to Instagram too where they invited hoopers from all around the world to spin up submissions for their new music video.
🙌🏽⭕️💃🏾🎉 ≈ Show me your 'HULAHOOP' Competition ≈ @billykennymusic & @maximono_official need your 'hula hoop' skills! Help us create a sick little video for the lead track of their forthcoming EP. This is how to contribute: 1) Upload a clip with you hulla hooping to the track (Track on our Soundcloud) to your INSTAGRAM. 2) Use the hashtags #showmeyourhulahoop and #thisaintbristol 3) State the city you're hula hooping in. Hoopers from far and wide answered the call. Posts started appearing on Instagram almost immediately and it wasn’t long before the This Aint Bristol label and Billy Kenny & Maximono found themselves being bombarded with hoopiness. This Ain’t Bristol told hooping.org, “The new music video was made with the hula hooping submissions to the #showmeyourhulahoop competition we ran on Instagram! Thanks for all of the submissions, we’re overwhelmed! This Ain’t Bristol loves You!”
While the competition to help them create their “sick little video” offered a chance to win a limited edition Tour T-shirt, a This Ain’t Bristol gym bag and free entry to the next show “near you for you and a friend”, in the end everybody was a winner. All entries were incorporated into the final video for the track in one way or another.
So what about One Night Stand? “The new EP drips sweat right onto your subwoofer,” they explained, adding, “You might regret answering your ex-girlfriend’s 4AM phone call, but you sure as hell won’t lament checking out this crazy collaboration before hearing it on every steamy dance floor across the country.” We’re totally loving the 100% Good Vibes House music and their North American tour still has a few dates left this month. Catch them in Chicago, Detroit, Miami & Washington DC, as well as Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. You can score a copy of the EP, including the new single “Hulahoop”, over on Beatport.
