Hooping Idol 5: Let’s Meet The Contestants!

Hooping Idol 5: Meet The Contestants Welcome to Hooping Idol 5, Hooping.org’s award-winning contest leading us all on an ever spinning journey in our quest to find the planet’s next big hooper star! Before we introduce our contenders for Season 5, we first want to send out the most heartfelt thank you to everyone who submitted Casting Week auditions. You made our decision making process the most difficult to date given that you’re all so talented. If you didn’t make the cut this year, please don’t let that be a reflection of your skills or how much we care. We are celebrating every single one of you with all our heart. With 57 hoopers auditioning this year and the need to narrow that list down to only 21 spots for season 5, it was really tough. So thank you all so much for throwing your hoop into the ring this year. We love you and we truly wish we were able to bring everyone along for the ride.

For Hooping Idol 5’s Casting Week you were asked you to create an audition video not to exceed 3 minutes in length where you told us about yourself, gave us a bit of a tour of your hooping life, and showcased some your skills. We gave you clear cut instructions, reminded you how important it would be to follow them in order to be considered, and all of this has brought us to this magical moment and the big kickoff. So now, without any further ado, we proudly present your 2015 Hooping Idol Contenders for Season 5 in a randomly selected order.

Hooping.org congratulates all of our Hooping Idol contestants for Season 5 AND we would like to once again give the utmost applause and love and appreciation to everyone who auditioned this year. If you didn’t make the cut this round, we sincerely hope you will seriously consider auditioning again next year. Some of our contestants this year auditioned previously, and we hope you will too.

Hooping Idol 5 What’s the first assignment on the agenda for our 21 hoopers that are now officially a part of our fifth exciting season? The first thing you will need to do is study and absorb our Ten Easy Ways to Improve Your Hooping Video. Why? Because six contestants will be going home as a result of our first elimination next week and with this much talent in the mix, you’re going to want to get it right. Tackle any technical questions you may have been having with your friends, family or community sooner, rather than later. From here on shaky camera work, shooting in portrait rather than landscape, bad lighting and other common mistakes could easily be the very thing that tips the scales to send you on your way. Again, ask for help. You’re all in for a ride and it’s going to get nuts. You don’t have to do it alone, people will support you.

The kickoff theme every year is always about showcasing what you can do while having some fun and getting us all excited about the fact that you are here. Welcome to New Wave Week on Hooping Idol 5. For this challenge you will need to: 1) Choose a New Wave song for your soundtrack. Remember, shorter songs tend to work better and no profanity, please. Pay VERY close attention to the soundtrack tips in our Ten Easy Ways to Improve Your Hooping Video guide. They can make all the difference in the world, and not doing so in the past has resulted in contestants going home much earlier than anyone would have thought. Don’t choose a song that will get your video banned. 2) Claim your soundtrack choice via email to hoopingidol@gmail.com. If the song is already claimed by another hooper, you will be notified to choose another track. Once you’ve claimed a song for New Wave Week and received confirmation that it is yours, you’re good to go. 3) Create your New Wave Week Hooping Idol video that really shows us what you’re capable of with your hooping and what makes you stand out from the rest of the competition. Be creative! You might want to weave in a story. Take us on a journey. It’s up to you, but remember – you’re going to want to set yourself apart and stand out in a sea of 21 Idol contenders, preferably in a way that is still uniquely you. 4) Post your video on both YouTube and Vimeo on or before Sunday, April 12th, at 11:59pm PST. Remember videos take time to upload, don’t be late. 5) Copy the urls for your video and email your YouTube and Vimeo links to hoopingidol@gmail.com.

That’s it hoopers, like totally have fun with it. We can’t wait to see what you all come up with.
