Hooping Idol 4: Meet The Contestants

Meet The Contestants Welcome to Hooping Idol 4, Hooping.org’s award-winning contest leading us all on an ever spinning journey in our quest to find the planet’s next big hooper star! Before we introduce our contenders for Season 4, we first want to send out the most heartfelt thank yous to everyone who submitted Hooping Idol 4 Casting Week auditions. You made our finalist decision making process the most difficult to date as you’re all so freakin talented. So if you didn’t make the cut this year, please don’t let that be a reflection of your mad skills or how much we care. We are celebrating every single one of you with all our heart. With 62 hoopers having auditioned this year, it really pained us to have to narrow the list down to 21 so thank you all so much for throwing your hoop into the ring this year. We truly wish we were able to bring everyone along for the ride.

For Casting Week we asked you to create an audition video not to exceed 3.5 minutes that told us about you, showed us a little of your hooping life and showcased some skills. We took a look at personality, creativity, ability and more, gave you posting instructions and reminded you of the importance of following directions for your audition to be considered. All of this and more ultimately brought us this magic moment. So now, without any further ado, we proudly present your 2014 Hooping Idol Contenders for Season Four in a randomly selected order.

Hooping.org congratulates all of our Hooping Idol contestants for Season 4 and we would like to once again give the utmost applause and love and appreciation to everyone who made themselves available for Idol 4. We hope you will seriously consider auditioning again next year. For one of our contestants this year it was her third year auditioning in a row.

hoop idol hip What’s next for the 21 that are moving on? The first thing they will need to do is study and absorb our Ten Easy Ways to Improve Your Hooping Video. Six contestants will be going home following our first elimination next week so make it count. Tackle any technical questions you may have been having with friends or family sooner, rather than later. From here on shaky filming, shooting in portrait rather than landscape and other common mistakes could be the thing that tips the scales to send you home. Again, ask for help. Your in for a ride and people will support you.

The kickoff theme every year is always about showcasing what you can do while having some fun and getting us all excited about you being here. Welcome to Hip Hop Week on Hooping Idol. For this challenge you will need to: 1) Choose a Hip Hop song for your soundtrack. Remember, if you have a choice shorter is probably better and no profanity, please. Pay very close attention to the soundtrack tips in Ten Easy Ways to Improve Your Hooping Video too. They can make all the difference in the world and not doing so in the past has resulted in people going home earlier than we thought they would. 2) Claim that song via email to hoopingidol@gmail.com. If the song is already claimed by another hooper, you will be notified to choose another track. Once you’ve claimed a song for Hip Hop Week and received confirmation that it is yours, you will not be allowed to change it so make it work. 3) Create your Hip Hop Hooping Idol video that really shows us what you’re capable of with your hooping and what makes you stand out. Be creative! You might want to weave in a story. Take us on a journey. It’s up to you, but remember – you want to set yourself apart and stand out in a sea of 21 Idol contenders, preferably in a way that is still uniquely you. 4) Post your video on YouTube and Vimeo on or before Sunday, April 13th, at 11:59pm PST. 5) Copy the urls for your video and email the links to hoopingidol@gmail.com. And most of all, have fun with your Hip Hop Week Challenge, cause at the end of Hip Hop Week 6 of our Idol 4 contestants will be going home.
