The first ever Sacramento Spin Festival took place in June, creating even more hoop buzz in the already hoop-friendly area of northern California. The brand new event was organized by hooper Allisone Light aka Allison Miller of Sacramento HoopDance and two poi spinners, Marshall Moonseed and Leah Reese. Allisone has been spinning up the hoop community in the Sacramento/Davis area for several years. She first began hooping as a student at UC Santa Cruz back in 2007 and she brought her hoop practice when she transferred to UC Davis a few months later. Since then, she has been spreading the hoop love throughout the Sacramento/Davis area. The Sacramento Spin Festival was the first of its kind for the local community. The event included six hours of free flow classes (hoop, poi, and dance) followed by performances and a glow jam.
The festival was also featured on Good Day Sacramento:
