Our Curvy Hooper Video Challenge Winners

Curvy Hoopers On November 16, 2012, Hooping.org columnist Lara Eastburn put out a call out to all of the curvy women (and men too) out there to turn on their video cameras, step inside their hoops and hoop it up. Our quest to change the online climate for plus size hoopers by creating greater curvy hooper visibility was once again officially underway. Started in 2011 by Lissa Angeline, our 2012 Curvy Hoopers Video Challenge gave hoopers until 11:59pm PST on November 30th to share their awesomeness and for a little extra incentive we had some prizes to give away as well. One lucky hooper would spin away with an “Everything But The Bed” pass to Hottie Hoop Camp 2012, the body-friendly hoop gathering that is taking place this year March 21-24, 2013, in Surfside Beach, Texas. Not familiar with Hottie Hoop Camp? Read all about it. The event, hosted by the awesome and generous women at Punk Rock Hoops, is not to be missed – and we also came up with a brand new custom-made glamour hoop from Hoop Mamas for a first runner up as well. And everything got even more exciting last week when Lara stepped in front of the camera herself!

So who are our winners? Answer: Everyone who participated this year, and our community as a whole for helping us to ensure our incredible represents and is inclusive of everybody. You’re all winners and we love and salute each and every one of you! As for the incentive prizes though, only one person could hoop away with each of those – or, that is what we thought prior to tallying up the judges ballots and finding ourselves with a first place tie. Before we could even begin to figure out how to make a decision between two outstanding and incredibly different 2012 Curvy Hooper Challenge videos, the love and generosity of Blythe TwoSisters and Rowan TwoSisters of Punk Rock Hoops shined even brighter. They decided to throw in another “Everything But The Bed” Pass to Hottie Hoop Camp this year. How awesome is that? So awesome that we’re building a shrine to both of them right now. Thanks so much Punk Rock Hoops!

My deepest thanks to each and every
spark, may we continue to spark passion and motivation in all of us. Many Many Thanks to everyone who participated in this challenge and to hooping.org and Punk Rock Hoops for blessing us all and letting us tie.

  2. Totally missed this challenge, but congrats to everyone who participated. Y’all inspire me and make me itch to get back into my hoop. Soon as my foot heals so I can dance, I’ll be joining my curvy sisters and brothers in the hoop again.
