In Australia, grown up Gold Coasters are taking up hooping for fitness. Puzzle Dust Circus started hula hoop classes on the Coast two months ago after the hooping craze took off in Melbourne and business owner Josie Jupiter hopes hooping will have the same success. Her weekly classes at Burleigh Heads are filling up fast. Jupiter told goldcoast.com.au that the low intensity workout helps build core strength while increasing flexibility, balance and coordination. “You end up getting toned and getting stronger in the core, almost by accident. All of the classes are always full of people giggling and laughing and having fun. A sense of humour is a pre-requisite. The people that think they’re hopeless at it might be using a children’s hoop or a toy one from the cheap shop.” Get yourself an adult sized hoop that is suitable in size for your body and you’re good to go. Josie Jupiter lives in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia.
