Plastic Bertrand: Hula Hoop Our Friday Flashback this week spins us back to 1981. It’s a clip from an episode of the “Domenica In” show on Italian television with host Pippo Baudo. And who is our special guest this week? It’s none other than Plastic Bertrand, aka new wave prankster Roger Jouret, who is going to sing his single “Hula Hoop”. Prior to that Pippo gets several people on up stage to hula hoop, with varying degrees of success because the hoops are too small for adults, and then Plastic begins his song at the one minute mark. Plastic Bertrand is from Belgium and is best known for his 1977 international hit single “Ça plane pour moi.” While his albums are difficult to find these days, you can actually score his song “Hula Hoop” digitally.
