To Be Merry: Hula Hoop Musical Theater at San Francisco Fringe Festival

We’ve seen hoopers perform on stages before, but now there’s a one woman hula hoop musical called “To Be Merry,”, described as “a musical, comedic, hula-hooping exploration of personal love and loss.” Mary Knoll not only sings numbers from musicals like “Brigadoon,” “Oklahoma,” “Yankee Doodle Dandy” and “Show Boat”, but she also hula hoops as she shares autobiographical stories about her brother having AIDS, her father dying when she was a child and more of life’s ups and downs. “To Be Merry” is playing at the San Francisco Fringe Festival with two remaining shows, tonight at the Exit Studio at 10:30pm, and Friday, September 14, at 8:30pm. If you’re in the Bay Area, be sure to check it out!
