Free Hoop Lessons to Commemorate the Occupy Movement

Free Hoop Lessons! Who wouldn’t love that? Well this gift had a bit of a different spin on it. While 124 people were arrested in New York City on the anniversary on the Occupy Wall Street Movement, The East City Blog of the New York Times reports that Ann Humphreys of Line and Circle commmemorated the anniversary in her own roundabout way. She brought hoops to the Occupy site, offering free hooping lessons to anyone interested. She hoped the lessons would be her contribution to the movement, bringing the “spontaneous and joyful spirit of Occupy” with her hoops. Ann, who spent several days in Zuccotti Park during Occupy Wall Street last year, said, “I see the hoop as a way to bring the pressure down. Back in the early days of the Occupy Movement, I noticed just the presence of hoop dance – the fun and levity – brought smiles to everybody’s faces.” She currently lives in Brooklyn, New York. What a peaceful way to raise consciousness. Ann, I heart you.

And P.S. you revolutionized my practice when you brought your inner/outer space workshop to Atlanta! I am still flowing months later!
