We certainly love the idea of putting a fun spin on laundry, plus it’s a very green alternative in the fact that it uses no electricity, and you can get in shape while you’re doing it. Aleksandra at Science of The Time writes, “This design concept is something that everybody will be happy to have, mostly because it saves time, it is easy portable and will contribute in your efforts for staying fit. Even more, if you do not have the habit for workout, this Hula Washing (Hoop) will make you start.” The first prize is a six-month paid internship at an Electrolux global design centre and 5,000 Euros and we are wishing Sang-soon Lee the very best of luck.
The Hula Washer: Do Your Laundry With a Hula Hoop
Ever want to spend time hooping, but you need to do your laundry? Relax! Now you can do both! Or at least you might be able to someday in the future thanks to a new design invention that was a semi-finalist in the Electrolux Design Lab 2012 competition this year. Only ten designers are ultimately being chosen to compete in the finals held in Milan, Italy, in October, and one of those will designer Sang-soon Lee
of Yongin University in South Korea
. Lee explains, “The Hula Washer is a revolutionary new product that will keep you fit while you wash your clothes. Save time and save money by using the energy you need to exercise to spin the Hula Washer, like a Hula Hoop, while it washes your clothes. Simply add your clothes and washing liquid to the hollow centre of the ring and then start to spin. And, because it is collapsible you can store it easily or take it travelling so you can be sure you’ll always have clean clothes when you need them.”

Oh wow. So many questions! I think I would be a lot happier doing laundry though!
“Sorry,honey, can’t talk…gotta hooo-er-do laundry.”
Wow..ideal for Hoop Camp! No need to pack so many clothes, you can wash them during workshops! Now we need a way to dry them, though….some sort of poi device?
At first I thought this sounds like a great idea, THEN I had some new thoughts and now I DON’T think it’s a good idea at all!!
First with all that water and clothes it sounds VERY heavy and unbalanced. I think it would ruin your back and put strain on your internal organs.
Second, we women don’t need to go back to labor intensive chores- I’m all for going green but not if I have to go back to manual labor. I love my washing machine!
And my hooping time is about love not housework!
this is a great idea for travelling…exercise and clean laundry in one hoop session!
Seems too heavy. I can feel my back aching already.
