Spin Cycle To Build Caledonia at Burning Man 2012

Caledonia at Burning Man 2012 At Burning Man this year, hoopers are in for something bigger and better than ever before. SpinCycle, easily the most visible theme camp for hoopers on the playa in recent years, is planning on taking things to a whole new level with the building of Caledonia, a 40-foot-high egg-shaped lookout tower surrounded by an 8,000 square foot dance floor that will be the home of this year’s most amazing hoop jams, as well as a hooper offering to the entire Burning Man community, right next to Center Camp. Designed by architect Rich Porter, one of SpinCycle camp’s organizers who practiced architecture for 5 years before leaving the field to pursue hooping full-time, Caledonia promises to be amazing providing all of the funding is raised for it’s completion. With two week’s left and $3,579 already raised of the $4,300 goal (the minimum needed to pull the project off), consider donating to the cause and vision of sharing the hoop love in Black Rock City bigger and better than ever. Watch the video below followed by information on how you can help make it happen:

The basic structure for Calendonia has already been funded. The trusses, shade sails and sound system were already able to be purchased. The facades and guardrails, required for the aesthetic and safety of the project, require additional financial support and they’re out of cash. $4300 is the minimum Spin Cycle needs to pull this off, but if they raise $5000 they can down on the subwoofers and bring some serious womp to the playa. With $6000 they can light this thing up like a christmas tree with LED stage lights, making it available for nightime workshops as a glowing beacon of badass, and if they raise $7000 they can pay off all of the aluminum trusses and go even bigger next year. Help bring the most major hooping presence to the playa ever. More information including how you can donate can be found here: Caledonia Lookout: Burning Man 2012.
