Miss Hooptastic Hoops Up The Daily on Shaw TV
James Green, the urban specialist for The Daily on Shaw TV in British Columbia, Canada, recently took a spin with Miss Hooptastic and dropped in on one of her classes to get the skinny on hooping. “The Daily”, which goes into the community for stories on local people, places and events, discovered that hooping is more than just a childhood toy and it is more than just spinning it up for Miss Hooptastic. “It’s very grounding, it’s healing, it’s meditative,” she explains. Having begun making hoops in 2008 and selling them after friends wanting one for themselves, she also began performing in 2009. Her hoop journey has also brought her to sharing the experience with others. She began teaching in 2010 and is making quite a spin in the community in and around Victoria. Hoop student Cindy Filler tells The Daily, “I feel like I can lose myself and feel dorky and awkward at the same time and it’s a lot of fun.” Yay! Watch the video below:
