Following on the heels of her singing and hooping performance at the Queen’s Jubilee Concert, the incomparable Grace Jones‘ has secured herself a spot on the UK television show I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!. Last week she was hula hooping her way through “Slave To The Rhythm”, one of her most famous songs, on stage in front of Buckingham Palace, the royal family, and millions around the world. She stole the show, and caught the attention of producers at ITV. Top brass there wasted no time in offering her £250,000 to go into the jungle this season — and they desperately want her to take her hula hoop along too. A show source told The Sun, “We’ve wanted Grace for years as she is perfect for ‘I’m A Celebrity’. We all watched her incredible performance at the Jubilee gig and it reminded us just how brilliant she is. She’d power through those Bushtucker trials like nobody’s business — or just throw a diva strop. The prospect of Ant and Dec getting to grips with her antics every night would be TV gold.”

Grace does, in fact, have previous experience when it comes to throwing tantrums on live television too. Some may well remember the scene she caused when she slapped chat show host Russell Harty on screen back in the 1980s. The 64-year-old singer has been in show business for 40 years and is still touring and recording. As for the 12th season of “I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!”, it will be taking place in November and producers are pulling out all the stops to get a winning cast to compete with their BBC rival, “Strictly Come Dancing”. And that’s where Grace Jones and her hula hoop come in. A source for the show stated: “We’ve got the chequebook out and are in talks. Our only proviso would be that she has to bring that hula hoop into the jungle as her luxury item.”
