BLEND Gives Over 800 Hula Hoops To Kids
BLEND, which stands for Better Living: Exercise and Nutrition Daily, is a coalition of medical professionals, policy makers, educators, health care advocates, and parents who are committed to improving the health of kids in St. Cloud, Minnesota, USA. Deb Johansen encouraged them to give hula hoops to kids and when the committee wanted to know where to buy them, Deb’s response was, “You don’t buy them, you make them!” A teacher for more than thirty years, Deb got BLEND making their own hula hoops out of irrigation tubing and with the generosity of The Home Depot Foundation and their Team Depot Crew, BLEND constructed more than 820 hula hoops and gave them away to kids attending the BLEND Kids Health & Fitness Expo. And with more than 2,400 kids and family members attending the expo wanting to know how to make a hula hoop, BLEND is sharing the instructions. “It’s crazy simple and anyone can do it… and in no time you will have your very own hula hoop!”
