[The 30/30 Challenge Returns for Spring Renewal.]
It’s time for our new 30/30 Challenge and our Spring Renewal begins today! What might doing the 30/30 have in store for you? Well, let me tell you what it did for me. At the end of January, having completed my first 30/30 Challenge I realized it really is a life changing experience. While Hooping.org had hosted them previously, every time we did I would start off strong, only to run into a life obstacle of some sort that ultimately siderailed me and rather than continue on anyway I threw in the towel. When I decided to become a daily hooper in 2012, however, the biggest challenge for me involved coming to the realization that I really wasn’t making my life and hooping and happiness the priority it deserved to be. 30 Days later I can’t tell you how pleased I was in not only accomplishing a goal that had previously alluded me, but there were all kinds of other benefits as well. For starters, I’d lost a bunch of weight. People were asking me what I had been doing cause I looked so good. Daily hooping had not only made a noticeable physical difference in my body, I felt physically lighter emotionally and spiritually as well. Spending a minimum of 30 minutes daily inside the center of my own personal orbit for a change made a profound impact on me and who knows what the 30/30 has in store for you? Are you ready for a new undertaking and to shake off winter for a life revitalization? Are you ready to start blooming? Then welcome to Hooping.org’s 30/30 Spring Renewal Challenge. Here’s how it works.
A little structure, commitment and accountability to others in our lives can sometimes do us a world of good. Together we can accomplish all kinds of things we could never do alone. So beginning today, Sunday, April 1st, and running through Monday, April 30th, by taking time daily to hoop for a minimum of 30 minutes and by sharing something about it in our Daily Practice Forum, we’ll have that structure. We are making the commitment together. We’ll have accountability to one another and a community to support us throughout the process. And for those who need a little extra motivation we’ll have a prize drawing at the end of it all too and one lucky hooper will score themselves a little something. The winner of our January prize drawing was goddessblessed85 in Troy, New Hampshire. She won a $50 gift card for Amazon.com, though we were all truly winners in our lives by simply participating in the challenge and in our lives. If you are up for the challenge all you have to do is hoop, and we already love doing that, right? We can crank the tunes and hoop it out. We can turn on the TV and spin up an hour with our favorite program. It doesn’t matter how you do it, just that you get at least 30 minutes in – and then share in the thread for that day in the Daily Practice Forum. There will be a thread for every day of our Spring Renewal Challenge throughout our journey, so find the thread that corresponds to today and let us know what happened. Did you learn something new? Did you realize something about the hoop, yourself or your relationship with it? Did you hoop your way through some resistance? Did you have a breakthrough? It can be as brief or detailed as you care to share, but share your journey.
Remember, even if you have to break your 30 minutes up into 5 or 10 minute increments, find a way to make it work in your schedule. I’ve personally found it’s helpful not to wait until the end of the day to hoop when you may be too tired to spin it up, though every time I thought I was too tired and did it anyway the experience held a noteworthy reward. Whatever is going on remember that you’re worth prioritizing in your life too and hoop it out. To keep things interesting you may want to find or create a class, workshop, hoopjams or events in April that you and your hoop can immerse yourself in to make the most out of the next 30 days as well. C’mon, you can do it!
Thirty days from now we’ll have developed or reinspired our very own personal hoop practice. Thirty days from now we’ll look and feel better and we will have improved our overall health and well being, gaining more connection with our selves – and with each other. We’ll have made some new friends and we’ll have gained community. We can make it happen! Have an awesome 30/30 Challenge everyone.
UPDATE: Because our 30/30 Challenge started on April Fools Day, and because some thought we were kidding about that, Hooping.org is opening the challenge to anyone still wanting to join us on Monday, April 2nd as well – with the following Spring Renewal 30/30 Challenge Twist.
During the month of April all 30/30 participants will have one “Double Up Day” available to them that can be used once and only once. What this means is that hoopers can hoop for a full hour on one day of the Challenge and use half of that day to count for another day. So if you come down with the flu… If you have to pull an all nighter at work… If an obstacle comes your way during the month that would otherwise siderail you from the Challenge, simply cash in your Double Up Day option. Be sure to post that you are using your Double Up Day on the appropriate day thread inside the Daily Practice forum. Those joining the 30/30 Challenge a day late on Monday, April 2nd, will have already used their Double Up Day option and will need to hoop for a full hour on Monday, April 2nd, in order to participate in the Spring Renewal 30/30 Challenge. That’s it, hoop it everybody!

Whoohoo! Goddessblessed!! One of my homehoopgirls gets the prize!!! YEAH! And let’s go people, it really is a fun journey, this challenge – a joyful journey! I’m psyched!
Just got done hooping and read about the 30/30. I started hooping 30 minutes a week for exercise and fun. I have lost 50 pounds, I feel good in mind and body, but most off all….I have a ton of fun….It amazes me what hooping has brought to my life. I am so excited about the 30/30 and I cant wait until tomorrow.
Gonna join in w/ the band~
I love 30/30 day challenges. I’m so in. However, I can’t seem to log into the Daily Pracice Forum.
I’m so in, and so psyched that you launched this again, Philo. I came close to finishing last time but got derailed. This time I am really making the commitment, along with a healthier way of eating. Thank you for giving us the structure and forum for making hooping a daily part of our lives.
I am new to hooping and love it! The 30 day challenge is just what I need. I am a breast cancer survivor and Breast Health Navigator. I facilitate a breast cancer support group. Hoopnotica donated 20 hoops for my support group and they will be receiving them and learning the magic of hooping next week. I have learned many things from hooping.org. Thank you!
Oops forgot to say I have hooped my 30 minutes today! It is great cross training for half marathon I will be doing in July!
mwkfrog – I’m inspired by your post. Thank you for facilitating a breast cancer support group, and thank you Hoopnotica for donating the hoops! Be sure to post your 30 minutes in the Daily Practice 30/30 forum!
Awesome! I’m so inspired by your journey. I’m in for April!
Yayyy! I’m GOING TO DO IT this time! The past two I ended up dropping out around day 22 (illness/stress) and this time I’m making it happen.
Yay! We can do this everybody!
Thanks Suki. I continued hooping daily and posting even after the last 30/30 ended and have wound up losing 19 pounds since the first of the year and feel great. Hooping is awesome!
Just found out about the 30/30 while hooping at LA Hoopers Jam today…i’m in! This will certainly be a challenge, I let too many things get in the way of my practice. Looking forward to it’s discovery.
