Cornell University Gets Hooping

Cornell University
At Cornell University, an Ivy League university located in Ithaca, New York, one way to break up your college routine is hooping! “Yeah, I know what you’re thinking. ‘Hula-hooping, really? What are we, eighth graders?’ That’s kind of what I thought too, the first time my roommate told at the beginning of June that her goal over the summer was to become a more serious ‘hooper’. … Much to my surprise however, I was quickly shown the world I was missing out on… I had no idea how many tricks could be done with one hula hoop, let along how many different types of hula-hoops there were to choose from! After watching a few minutes of an LED hoop being tossed into the air and through loops I never thought possible, I was sold and the summer hooping practicing began. Talk about that for a college skill. It’s an undeniably unique activity, its beautiful to watch, and it even serves as a substitute to the gym!” The piece links a video from’s Hooping Idol, and let’s students know that there’s a “make your hoop station” at GrassRoots for $5 now too “in case you needed any more persuading.”
