The Amazing Hoop Race Brazil

The Amazing Hoop Race, Hooping.org’s new revolutionary contest, got underway last week and after we met our 14 amazing teams and explained things and our week one agenda, the race officially began! All of our teams were instructed to head to the airport where they would get people hooping and shoot travelogue video documentation to score themselves a maximum of 20 Travel Points for this leg. After that, the first virtual flight was taking off to our first destination with an in house screening of the new Hoop Loops VJ Mix (Vol 1), a copy of which would be awarded to the team coming in first this week.

Once their virtual plane had landed in our first Amazing Hoop Race location, our teams then needed to find the Vista Point for this leg of the race. Their only clue relating to where they would be and what they would need to know: “We have a feeling this first leg will have you going in Circularidades.” And what could this capitalized foreign word mean exactly? For those not remembering our recent photo of the day entitled “Circularidades”, a quick google search and the top suggestion takes you to a photo taken in Brazil with a link to the Brazilian hooping website: BAM BAM BAM. There, they were immediately greeted with Olá, Amazing Hoop Racers! and everything they needed to know about their stay in Porto Alegre and the Vista Point video challenge. And Porto Alegre, Brazil, held a very special hoopjam in honor of their arrival.

Their mission in Brazil: A Samba Hoop Dance video. All of the information was presented including some Samba lessons, as well as an explanation of just what our Brazilian judges at BAM BAM BAM would be looking for with this challenge. After all, they would be awarding up to 40 Vista Points to each of our teams for their video. And how did our teams do? Let’s find out!

TEAM ARIZONA: Ben and Peri apparently got waylaid by the London Bridge Days Parade in their hometown. While they did not send this in, it was posted on their YouTube account so we must assume they are still in Arizona.

And there you have it, an update on the whereabouts of our teams as best we know it. Given that this is a brand new contest and this was the first week of it, it’s totally understandable if a team got confused or misunderstood or misinterpreted something. Nevertheless, most of our teams are well on our way and it’s time to vote for the team that you would like to see continue on in the Amazing Hoop Race. You can only vote once and for one team only.

VOTING HAS CLOSED FOR THIS LEG OF THE RACE.

Thank you for your participation. Voting will close at 5am PST on Tuesday, October 18th. Your audience points will then be awarded and combined with the Vista Points from our Brazilian judges at BAM BAM BAM. Those numbers will be added to the scores above, giving each team their total for this leg of the race. The team coming in first will score a special prize, and the teams that are in the bottom this week will be eliminated. Tune in tomorrow for the results and stay tuned as our hoopers continue on their amazing race around the world.

Lots of people are having trouble finding where to vote. Is it possible to make it a bit easier??

    1. October 17, 2011 at 5:07 pm

I haven’t heard that this was challenging for anyone else. The ballot is located here at the bottom of the page. After you vote it will take you to the same page and if you scroll down to where the ballot is you’ll see a thank you for voting message in it’s place.

I’ve checked Hooping.org’s server and it may have gotten a little overwhelmed with too many people voting late this afternoon – which may or may not have caused some to not connect to the database properly, not sure. It appears to have been fully operational, but if anyone had a problem apologies. I’ve gone ahead and rebooted our server anyway so things should be even better.

I clicked through to the audition link thinking that would get me to the voting. Took a bit of backtracking to find it.

I am so sorry to report, that Tessa and I didn’t even achieve lift off. We were so pumped but time wise neither of us had a chance to even socialize, let alone go to the airport, make a video and then create another one. Between the two of us we work 4 jobs and Tessa’s mom fell ill. Timing is important in most things, especially in a race. and we were all off. I am so disappointed. I was HONORED and so excited to take on this challenge. sometimes though, obstacles gets in the way and not everything works out as planned. Important thing tho is to keep looking forward and not give up. Good luck and much love to all the competitors. I will be keeping tabs and voting! so rock it hoopers!

I am bit confused about the whole concept of the game. Do these teams really travel to different countries? If so, do they pay their own expenses around the world or does Hooping.org pay for it? Or is it just pretend??? Sorry about the questions, I feel a little blonde…right now, is it just me who is not getting what is going on exactly?

    1. October 17, 2011 at 10:13 pm

no we are pretend traveling and don’t worry we are in the challenge and still got confused!

    2. October 17, 2011 at 11:03 pm

It’s a “virtual” race around the world.

Do we get feedback from the judges too? Lori, I hear you. Jen and I both work full time jobs so we had just Saturday and Sunday to shoot two videos, edit and upload. We didn’t have a moment’s downtime all weekend. We’re knackered!

  20. October 19, 2011 at 8:56 pm

    I vote for Team Maryland!
