Hoop Class in St. George, Utah

Hooping is the new craze in St. George, Utah, as locals and students from Dixie State College have gravitated into the circle as an alternative form of fitness.
Upon entering the Washington City Dance Factory you’ll immediately notice the rows of brightly colored practice hoops lined up at the front of the room. Instructor Kelsey Hartman has the space dimly lit with upbeat music makes it impossible not to move along to the beat. The strobe lights and smoke machine quickly cause you to forget you are about to begin a fitness class. Annie Berry, 29, a young mom, said she turns to hoop fitness because it’s a fun alternative to exercise. “I just like alternative forms of workouts,” Berry said. “And that’s what this is for me—you can do it anywhere. It’s a hoop.” Full story: The Dixie Sun
