Hooping Tutorials: Single Hoop Figure Eights

Steve Bags introduces us to the five main grips that are used and then show us ten figure 8s that you can do with them before looking at linking the two together, doing them around different parts of the body, and a couple of isolated figure 8s. He lives in Bristol, England, UK.

GREAT video! I don’t normally take 10 minutes to watch something…but I know Steve makes awesome videos so I’m glad I took the time. Better clean up my apartment and practice my 8s!

Awesome video! I’ll definitely be practicing those yummy isolations!
I have to say, it cracked me up a little when Steve had no explanation for the name of the “dead spider grip” like he did for the figure 8 and the “happy spider…” Just a frown. Poor spider.

This is probably my favourite hooping tutorial video ever! I love that he isn’t showing us the biggest specciest trick, but taking something quite simple, that we all learn early in our hooping careers, breaking it down, and showing us fabulous things with that skill. I know i will always now remember the happy and dead spider grips (and i plan to work on those happy spider isolations, they rock!). And great to see a tutorial that isn’t full of “umms” and “aahhhhhs” – well planned, well scripted, and well presented.
