Venus Star Has No Pregnant Pause

Venus StarVenus Star has not let becoming pregnant block her career as an entertainer. The Wellington, New Zealand-based multi-skilled performer is a practiced burlesque and hoop dancer, and has worked as a pin-up girl. Late last year she created a high-end burlesque show called Carousel Cabaret, which runs once a month. With a background in contemporary dance, gymnastics and theater, Star found herself beginning circus training, which in turn led her to burlesque. “There’s not so many boundaries with circus, unlike with ballet. You can be a little more outlandish,” said Star. “I also incorporate my circus skills with my burlesque performances. I try to do four hours a day. If we’ve got a show coming up I’ll train like a normal job – nine till five,” she said. After becoming pregnant Star is still busy teaching burlesque and hooping – and she decided to put together a cabaret. Star is also one of this year’s judges at the Miss Tattoo New Zealand competition, which takes place in Hamilton this weekend. Full story:
