Nearly 50 people hooped it up and more at the Snow Flow Festival at the American Turners Sports Complex in Louisville, Kentucky. The workshop day, organized by Rebecca Hellemans (pictured), focused on sensual flow arts including juggling and belly dancing as well. When the Courier-Journal showed up though Hellemans’ hooping class was in full swing with the paper noting that “hoops workshop participants were rhythmically twirling large, decorated handmade hoops around their torsos, necks and limbs, learning such tricks as the ‘elbow pass.’” Hellemans explained, “Hooping can produce the same feeling of well-being that people often experience from meditating.
