Curvy Hoopers Challenge Winner: Winter

VIDEO OF THE DAY: “Winter” is the first place winner of Hooping.org’s Curvy Hoopers Video Challenge, promoted to increase curvy hooper visibility in our community in conjunction with our new Curvy Hoopers Group and Forum. Our winner Loop D Lu, aka Jennifer Wagner of Madison, Wisconsin, choreographed a hoop routine for herself and practiced it in her nice warm room at home many times before ultimately taking a half-day off from work to venture out into the cold to film. And by cold we mean 19° F bone-chilling cold in 43 mile per hour winds in nearly knee high snow at Olbrich Beach. Bundled up and wearing gloves in conditions even she wasn’t adequately prepared to try to hoop in, her hoop video debut “Winter” remains truly inspiring. Loop D Lu has scored herself a six-month membership to Hooping University and a brand new custom-made glamour hoop from Tailspin Hoops. Soundtrack: “Winter” by Tori Amos (on iTunes).

Yay! Let’s hear it for the girl.

Surely the most determined video ever?

There is no way most hoopers would have been anywhere near that beach, on that day, in those conditions and with some bare arms showing. Talk about letting nothing stop her.

Can’t wait to see what she can do when it’s actually warm enough to feel alive out there.

I like the airplane. I know you did not plan it, but such a statement with you left alone in the ice below. I need hot tea.

Loved it! The beginning, where she is a rock, is an amazing idea.

Beautiful…I loved the beginning as I was trying to make out the landscape and up rises a hooper! Let’s here it for those Wisconsin winters and the intrepid Loop Di Lu!

Very cool (literally and figuratively)!! How in the world are you able to hoop in so many layers of clothing?? I can’t even shoulder/chest hoop unless I’m wearing a tank top. I’m impressed!

Wow! I can’t believe my little video won and made it to the front page of hooping.org. I feel so honored. Thanks all for the kind comments! Hooping in layers of clothing is a challenge, though I was just wearing a jersey cotton dress and a cotton shirt underneath, plus a pair of yoga pants and running spandex-y pants…the bigger challenge was the runner’s gloves on my hands, they are lycra/spandex/something not grippy, so that w/ the wind didn’t make it all to easy to hang on to my trusty hoop!

The airplane was definitely serendipitous…but I live right under the flight pattern for the Madison airport so they are always flying directly over my house.

Thanks again for everyone’s support, it really means the world to me to have found this awesome form of self expression and the amazing community here!
    Blessings to all,
    Loop
