On Wednesday, December 15th, Laura Scarborough of Hoop Circle has organized an impromptu rally in support of bringing the The Hooping Life documentary to SXSW. SXSW is a set of film, interactive and music festivals and conferences that take place every spring in Austin, Texas, and hoopers are gathering at the Whole Foods at 6th and Lamar at 12:30pm to hoop over to the SXSW headquarters next door and let them know that “The Hooping Life” is more than a movie, it’s a movement. Scarborough told Hooping.org, “The idea is to show Austin’s support of this movie getting accepted and screened because hooping is popular! Hooping is for all! Hooping is a revolution! They need to know that when they make their decision.” When asked if there were other things we could do she added, “If you can write any letters or testimonials of what hooping has done for you, I would like to include them in a gift package, that will include a beginner hoop, for the SXSW office. And of course any ideas, signs, support and music is much appreciated.” Hooping.org hopes anyone in the greater Austin area can turn out for this event. Getting the film into SXSW specifically could ensure it gets noticed nationally. More info: Hoop Rally for The Hooping Life.
