While there are smaller groups here including some that may be closer and more specific to where you live, to answer this question simply we recommend joining your regional group. There you will meet hoopers who know your area that can help get you hooked up. If you’re in the United States here is a map of the regional groups in the US to help you identify which is yours followed by links to those groups. Of course you need to register before you can join them:

In Canada, there are two regional groups, Western Canada and Eastern Canada, divided at the Manitoba/Ontario border.
There are also forums specific to other parts of the world.
And if you find that there aren’t other hoopers in your town, you can always start a hoop group too so that others can find you. Here are some tips on how to make it happen.

I have always considered North Carolina and Tennessee to be in the South.
