Entrances and Exits

Sugar Magnolia’s first two demonstrations of these entrances and exits are for lefties, the second two are for righties. Explaining for righties she notes, “The first part requires you to swing the hoop behind your head using your right hand with your arm extended straight up, and stop where your neck and left shoulder meet, then let the hoop trickle down till you can grab it again with your right hand and take your left leg out. The second part launches the hoop above your head. It is important that your left arm is raised and bent, ready to grab the hoop when it comes. Pull the hoop 90-180 degrees behind you to wind it up, then thrust it to the left, raising you left leg for the bottom of the hoop to go under. And if all goes well the hoop should escalade up to your left hand.” She lives in Waterford, Michigan.
