Turn a Hoop Into a Holiday Wreath

hula hoop wreath Melanie made a large wreath for her back porch using an extra hoop. She writes, “I used a big hula hoop then attached branches from our old artificial Christmas tree. I went around one direction using the branches from the bottom 2 sections of the tree and alternated them. I attached them with duck tape I tore into 1 inch by 7 inch wide strips. I then went back around the other direction with the branches from the upper parts of the tree to cover the duck tape and wire prongs. I poofed it out as I went and then added the bow.” The good folks at Superhooper.org take it a step further: “Too Cold to hoop? What about modding your LED hoop into a glowing wonder of a wreath for the season?
We see endless possibilities.” Hoopy Holiday

Although I’d have a hard time cutting up one of my “good” hoops, another use for a plastic hoop (of the toy store variety) is to cut it open at one end, and use it as a “base” for wedding arches – wrap it in greenery and ribbons and flowers, and fasten it to either side of a doorway. I’ve seen it done, and it works great!
